New veterinary hospital at Nedumpram

Focus on welfare of dairy farmers

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Left Democratic Front government has given top priority for various welfare schemes for the common masses, Food Minister C. Divakaran said here on Monday.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a veterinary hospital at Nedumpram, near Thiruvalla, on Monday.

He said the government, which had completed four years in office some days ago, had effectively implemented a series of welfare schemes and people-friendly development projects. Rice was being supplied at the rate of Rs.2 a kg to the poor. Welfare pensions had been increased and welfare schemes started for dairy farmers and other sections.

Mr. Divakaran said the government would launch more welfare schemes for the youth, to be implemented in a time-bound manner.

Sajeev Mangad, grama panchayat president, presided.
