KANNUR: Education Minister M.A. Baby has called on literacy activists to strengthen activities aimed at ensuring continuity of the literacy drive through continuous education programmes.

Inaugurating the district gathering of the neo-literates and literacy workers on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the continuing education programme of the State Literacy Mission here on Sunday, the Minister said that innovative initiatives were being taken up by the mission that would elevate the literacy activities in the State to a higher level. He said that literacy activities in the State were a model to the entire country.

Stressing the importance of local touch in launching the continuing education drive, Mr. Baby said that the aim of the State government was to make the State 100 per cent literate. He said that literacy workers should ensure that neo-literates continued to be literate and acquired some skills for getting jobs.
