MALAPPURAM: Minister for Finance Thomas Isaac has called upon the people to work towards achieving self-sufficiency in matters of consumption.

According to him, attainment of self-sufficiency alone can help the country tide over the food crisis it faces.

Addressing a meeting of the CPI(M) at Kottakkal on Monday, Mr. Isaac said the Centre was responsible for the current crisis precipitated by the price rise. CPI(M) district secretary K. Ummer presided over the meeting.
