KOCHI: The 35th session of the International Pepper Community (IPC) will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 29 to November 2.
Government officials and trade representatives from pepper and spice producing countries, including India, will participate in the meet, which is of particular interest to the pepper industry across the world. The other participating countries include Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Cambodia.
The International Pepper Community is an inter-governmental organisation of pepper producing countries. Brazil, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are its full members. Hainan province of China and Papua New Guinea are the associate members. The events during the session include a meeting of the IPC Committee on Quality that will be open to members of the committee and special invitees. IPC constituted the Committee on Quality, comprising experts from the industry as well as representatives from member countries, during its special meeting held in Jakarta in 1998.
Another event will be the Peppertech Meeting, the theme this time being sustainable production technology. The Peppertech Meeting is a permanent panel on techno-economic studies on pepper and the meeting will study, identify and evolve solutions to problems facing the pepper industry.
The Pepperexim meet at the IPC session will bring together producers, exporters, importers and traders.
