To impart scientific training to farmers, entrepreneurs

Potential for export of animal husbandry products

200 farmers to take part in meeting

KANNUR: The Animal Husbandry Department will organise a gathering of entrepreneurs at Pappinissery here on March 11 to attract more entrepreneurs and impart training to farmers on scientific and innovative knowledge to increase production.

District Animal Husbandry Officer Sanil G. Cheeran and programme co-ordinator T.V. Jayamohanan said at a press meet here on Monday that the sector was now drawing attention of investors and large-scale farms were being set up in the State.

They said that the export potential of animal husbandry products had also increased. The gathering, ‘Darshanam-08’, was being organised to keep the entrepreneurs informed of various aspects of animal husbandry-based industry.

The gathering also envisaged popularisation of scientific and technological information on starting livestock and poultry units and discussion of the problems being faced by entrepreneurs.

The success stories of entrepreneurs in the sector will be highlighted at the gathering, they said. Nearly 200 farmers would participate in the function led by farmers and veterinary surgeons and bank representatives.
