KANNUR: A technology clinic on ‘Food processing industries, food safety management and bank credit facilities’ was organised under the joint auspices of Syndicate Bank, the Lead bank of the district, District Industries Centre (DIC) and the district unit of the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA).
Inaugurating the programme here on Thursday, District Collector V.K. Balakrishnan stressed the need for production, processing and marketing of safe, hygienic and healthy food. Observing that the district was known for a wide variety of natural, organic and geographically important fruit and food products, he said that they should be utilised by entrepreneurs in the area.
He also emphasised he need for improved packaging processes for tapping the domestic as well as global markets. Syndicate Bank Regional Manager V.P.G. Nayanar delivered the key note address and the technical session was handled by food safety management consultant N. Anandvally.
