PALAKKAD: The valedictory function of a two-day workshop on inland fisheries development under the ‘Malsya Keralam’ project with the cooperation of local bodies in the State was inaugurated by district panchayat president Subida Isahaq at K.V.M. U.P. School, Polpully, on Sunday.

On Sunday, discussions were held on food security and inland fisheries development, farm management, marketing and new fish farming techniques. Papers presented at the workshop said that 24,000 hectares of ponds, 4,000 hectares of water storages, 65,000 hectares of inland reservoirs and 1,25,000 hectares of Pokkali farms are available for inland fisheries development in the State.
