KOZHIKODE: Preventive medicines for viral fever, dengue fever and chikungunya were distributed under the aegis of the Lions Club of Calicut Beach and Kozhikode Government Homoeo Medical College here on Thursday.

Mayor M. Bhaskaran inaugurated the programme by distributing the medicines to students of BEM Girls Higher Secondary School here.

The medicines were provided to as many as 3,000 students.

P. Vikraman, president of the club, presided over the programme. Laila, headmistress, of the school welcomed.

An awareness class on preventive measures was conducted by Dr. M.P. Prakashan, Principal of Homoeo Medical College.

The Lions Club of Calicut Beach has been involved in the medicine distribution drive for the last three years. This year, the club proposes to distribute medicines to students of a majority of schools in the city, organisers said. The programme has received good response from the students, it was added.
