Senior students initiate newcomers into profession

To keep ragging menace at bay, third year MBBS students and faculty of the Meeyannur Azeezia Medical College near here is organising a mentoring programme at the college auditorium on October 25.

College Principal Fazil Marickar said senior students would initiate newcomers into the profession as part of the programme.

It is being organised as a festival. The faculty members would also welcome the newcomers formally. The celebrations would be inaugurated by Kollam MP N. Peethambara Kurup. Chairman of the college trust M. Abdul Aziz would preside.

At the function, Gayathri Krishnan, a student of the college who won the first rank in the BDS examination of the University of Kerala, would be honoured. She will be presented a cash award and a memento. The BDS batch that secured 100 per cent pass would also be honoured.

The MBBS seat strength of the college has been increased to 150 this year from one hundred. The college has got approval to start eight medical postgraduate departments with two seats each.
