Marian Senior Secondary School, Vadavathoor, emerged victorious at the Kottayam Sahodaya Regional Youth Festival, ‘Sargasangamam 2011’, which came to an end on Saturday.
Consolidating the lead it had accumulated over the course of three days, the school finished with a huge margin of nearly 100 points over the first runner-up. While the winners garnered a total of 710 points to claim the championship, the second-placed Girideepam Bethany Central School, Vadavathoor, closed their tally with 617 points. Mary Mount Public School and Junior College, Kattachira, and Lourdes Public School and Junior College, Kottayam, were second and third runners-up with 560 points and 543 points respectively. According to the categorical break-up of points, Girideepam Bethany Central School topped Category 1 (Classes III and IV) with 58 points. Lourdes Public School and Junior College led Category 2 (Classes V, VI and VII) with 102 points. However, it was the performances put on display by the students of Categories 3 (Classes VIII, IX, X) and 4 ( Classes XI and XII) that proved decisive in the end. Marian school topped the categories with 296 and 233 points.
