The cultural thread and value system of a country are generally ignored in mainstream professional higher education, N. Ravichandran, executive director of Lucas-TVS, Chennai, has said. “But to capitalise on the demographic dividend of a country, we need culturally sensitive, socially responsible, and competent corporate citizens.”

He was addressing a management development programme on the topic “Achieving competitiveness: managing profitability in tough times,” organised by the TKM Institute of Management here on Sunday.

Mr. Ravichandran said that quality enhancement and cost reduction would be the key words in maintaining competitiveness for any industry. A. Viswanathan, Director, TKM Institute of Management welcomed the gathering.
