PALAKKAD: The shutters of the Malampuzha dam will be opened on Wednesday to release water through the right and left bank canals for the cultivation of the second crop of paddy.

Water Resources Department officials here said that initially, water would be released for 15 days and later, the number of days would be based on the requirement and storage in the dam. The present storage was enough for 70 days. They said the officials would monitor the utilisation of water and action would be taken against those misusing it.
