Thiruvananthapuram: A major naval exercise involving different components of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force is on off the coast of Kerala.
Official sources said the hub of the "highly classified" operations was on the highseas off Kochi.
Helicopters involved in the exercise conducted coastal familiarisation flights over Poovar and other areas of Thiruvananthapuram district on Thursday evening.
The Navy and Air Force are keeping the details of the exercise a secret.
Informed sources said the exercise involved anti-piracy, anti-terrorist and anti-smuggling operations.
The exercise was also aimed at training various special forces to combat possible security threats to oil shipments moving through the international waters.
The exercise involved highspeed deployment of various elements of the Indian Armed forces against simulated "terrorist threats."
