KOLLAM: A fully loaded Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bullet tanker lost control and overturned off the National Highway, near Karunagapally, early on Thursday and fell into a marshy area. Efforts to retrieve the tanker did not meet with success even at 7.30 p.m. The marshy land is hampering the operations.

Controller of Explosives R. Venugopal will visit the spot and supervise the operations with more retrieval infrastructure.

The accident occured at 3.30 a.m. at Vettamukku, between Karunagapally and Chavara.

The tanker, KL 7F 8755, was carrying LPG from Kochi Refineries Ltd. to the bottling plant of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. at Kazhakuttam.
