Thiruvananthapuram: The distribution of cooking gas will improve in the State within two weeks. Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran said here on Wednesday that the oil companies had given the Government this assurance.

The Minister stated that steps were being taken to get Kerala’s cooking gas quota increased and make more cylinders available to the State. The State Government had requested the Centre to increase Kerala’s kerosene quota also. There were 50,14,737 LPG consumers under 356 agencies of the IOC, BPCL and HPCL in the State. The present difficulty was due to the reduction in the LPG quota against the backdrop of the increasing use of cooking gas even in the rural areas of the State. —Special Correspondent
