The State government on Friday informed the Kerala High Court that the probe into the alleged claims of Rs.2 crore prize money of the Monsoon Bumper-2011 lottery ticket was in progress.

The lottery department told the court that the prize money would not be disbursed till the genuineness of the lottery ticket submitted by a woman of Tirur, who claimed that she won the first prize of the Monsoon bumper, was proved.

The first prize winning ticket was produced with relevant documents by Sivaji Tatoba Yamagar of West Mumbai on July 19, 2011. The lottery department had referred this for Crime Branch probe as the tickets were sold only within the State, the government submitted. The petitioner, Sakeena of Malappuram who laid claim to the first prize sought a CBI probe into her claim. The government added that the petitioner had not produced the original ticket. On scrutiny of the photocopy, it was found that serial number portion of the ticket was tampered and the half portion of the secret code was removed.
