KOLLAM: Following talks with kerala Labour Minister Babu Divakaran at the Government Guesthouse here on Friday, the call for lorry strike from Friday midnight has been withdrawn.

Leaders of various lorry owners' organisations expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the talks.

As per the agreement reached during the talks, lorry owners can pay road tax by January 31 without paying the dues to the Kerala Motor Transport Workers Welfare Fund Board.

It was also agreed that disputes about the dues would be discussed at a later date with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

The lorry owners were represented at the talks by president of the Transport Lorry Owners Welfare Association Jacob Mani; president of the Cochin Container Carrier Owners Welfare Association Chandrashekaran.
