Fisheries Minister K. Babu has said that the Cabinet has decided to allow the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation to take loan worth Rs. 150 crore from HUDCO on government guarantee for the implementation of housing project for fishing workers. HUDCO has agreed to grant loan. The State has about 25,000 fishing workers without homes. The corporation has submitted to the government a proposal worth Rs. 3,000 crore for ensuring drinking water supply, sanitation, and housing in all fishing hamlets in the State.
