Nine High Court lawyers residing at Pachalam have approached the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the authorities to take steps to construct a railway overbridge at Pachalam.

They said the demand for an overbridge at Pachaalam was 40 years old. But the State government and the corporation were consistently ignoring the demand by the residents.

The railways had offered to meet 50 per cent of the expenses for the construction of an overbridge. There was also a proposal to construct a roundabout at Pachalam jointly by the railways, the port trust and the Goshree Island Development Authority. But the corporation had sabotaged the proposal by suggesting that it could be implemented under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, they said. However, the corporation had not taken any step so far, the petition said.
