Thrissur: Residents of Lalur, the Thrissur Corporation’s waste disposal yard, will resume on Friday their agitation against dumping garbage at the dump yard after a high-level discussion on the issue held on Thursday failed to arrive at a solution. T.K. Vasu, chairman of the Lalur Malineekarana Virudha Samara Samithy, said the residents were forced to resume their agitation as the corporation allegedly was yet to take concrete steps to address the Lalur issue. “The dump yard is overflowing with garbage, so much so that vehicles carrying waste cannot even enter the premises. The entire garbage collected from the city is being dumped in the treatment plant.” Mr. Vasu said that Lalur residents had temporarily withdrawn their protest at the request of the District Collector.
