Take initiative, CPI(M) told
Forward Bloc to take out march
to Raj Bhavan
Price hike of fuel flayed
KOLLAM: National secretary of the All India Forward Bloc G. Devarajan has said while the four Left parties have decided to organise joint national and State-level demonstrations against price rise, it is unfortunate that in Kerala the main Left parties have decided to organise separate demonstrations.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Devarajan said in such a situation his party decided to organise a Raj Bhavan march in the State on March 12.
He said at a time when Left unity had to be strengthened, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which leads the LDF, should have taken the initiative to organise a joint demonstration.
He alleged that the Union Budget catered to the interests of the corporate sector. It would make life more miserable for the common man and worsen the unemployment situation. Hiking the price of urea and slashing the fertilizer subsidy by Rs.3,000 crore would ruin the agriculture sector.
The hike in fuel prices would further push up the prices of essential commodities.
He said the Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front which had alternatively ruled the State were equally responsible for the Munnar encroachments.
Therefore all land occupations since 1975 should be classified as encroachments and should be evicted. Forward Bloc leaders V. Ram Mohan, K.R. Brahmanandan and Thambi Punnathala were present at the press conference.
