Sale of ethnic food, garments, toiletries and hand-crafted items at the five-day Kudumbasree mela in the city fetched a total of Rs.43 lakh, a record for any of the mission’s trade fairs so far.

An official of the district unit of the Kudumbasree poverty eradication mission told  The Hindu  on Thursday that around five lakh people visited the stalls that were categorised into four sections depending on the products and produce they sold.

The trade fair was held at Marine Drive as part of the 14th anniversary celebrations of Kudumbasree mission between September 27 and October 2.

More than 100 individual products were up for sale at the trade fair in which 102 Kudumbashree units participated.
