Chief Minister inaugurates Trans Towers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has urged the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation (KTDFC) to provide financial assistance to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to help it tide over its financial difficulties.

He was speaking here after inaugurating a new-age office-cum-commercial complex constructed by the KTDFC at Vazhuthacad.

"While the KTDFC is going from strength to strength, the KSRTC is struggling for funds to purchase vehicles. The Finance Corporation should ponder over its contribution to the Transport department under which it functions," said Mr. Achuthanandan.

Minister for Road Transport and Motor Vehicles Mathew T. Thomas said the office of the Transport Commissioner would be shifted to the building soon. Pannian Tavindran, MP, delivered the keynote address.

V. Sivankutty, MLA, who took part in the function, identified the lack of parking space for two and four-wheelers as the bane of the city. There is a need for creating basic infrastructure facilities before constructing such high-rise buildings, he said.

The function was also attended by Mayor C. Jayan Babu, principal secretary to the Chief Minister Shiela Thomas and managing director, KTDFC, Rajasree Ajith,

The construction of the 10-storied complex was completed in 26-months under a Build-Operate-Transfer project. The project cost totalled Rs.17 crores. . The building was designed by the Kumar Group.
