Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate more services between Kollam and Shencottah to meet the additional demand following the decision of the Railways to discontinue train services from Kollam to Punalur from Tuesday in order to facilitate gauge conversion work.

In addition to the existing services, 10 fast passenger and 10 limited stop ordinary services will be operated along the route, an official press note said here on Monday.

These services will be operated from the Kollam, Kottarakkara and Punalur depots at five-minute intervals. A total of 320 trips will be operated along the route.

Bus services will be operated from the Punalur railway station for those who arrive by rail services which will be operated on a nominal basis to Punalur. The KSRTC has asked the Railways to provide special parking facility for the passengers.
