KATTAPPANA: KSRTC will launch chain services in the Thodupuzha-Kothamangalam sector using Venad buses with seven services starting from Kothamangalam depot and three from Thodupuzha depot.

Though private buses are plying on the route, there is no bus service from Thodupuzha to Kothamangalam, the entry point to High Ranges after 8.45 p.m.

The new services will benefit night travellers and daily commuters from Thodupuzha to Kattappana, Kumily, Idukki and Adimaly. The commuters, presently, depend on autorickshaws to reach Kothamangalam or travel on Thrissur buses and alight at Perumbavoor to catch buses originating from Kochi to High Ranges. The new services will be a boon to daily commuters as they have to spend Rs. 120 as autorickshaw charges or travel an additional 25 km to reach Perumbavoor for a journey of 12 km from Thodupuzha to Kothamangalam, said KSRTC sources. Meanwhile, KSRTC on Monday started chain services on Kattappana-Alappuzha (via Thodupuzha) route with an interval of half-an-hour, running 16 schedules beginning from 5.30 a.m.

KSRTC has introduced two new Venad buses in addition to diverting buses on Kattappana-Vaikom-Alappuzha route, they said. Recently, KSRTC had launched five buses on the Kattappana-Kottayam route.
