KOCHI: The industrial sector has been completely ignored by the Kerala State Electricity Board when it decided to recommend a cut in power tariff for the domestic and service sectors, said a press release from Kerala High Tension and Extra High Tension Industrial Electricity Consumers' Association here. This decision is unjustifiable, said S. Jayathilakan, president of the association and pointed out that while power rates were raised by 50 paise per unit in 2002 it was indicated that better availability or rain would see a cut in rates for all sectors.

The release said several industrial units were partially or completely closed on account of rising power charges.
