‘Projects worth Rs.63 crore in Wayanad'

KALPETTA: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has implemented several development projects at a cost of Rs.63 crore in the electricity distribution sector in the district during the past four years of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule, said a release from the district information office. These included electrification work in tribal colonies, installation of new transformers, opening new division offices and installation of voltage improvement projects.

As many as 243 tribal colonies had been electrified, including 228 Scheduled Tribe colonies and 15 Scheduled Caste colonies, at a cost of Rs. 29 crore.

The release said 58,136 new house connections had been provided in the general category. Electricity section offices were opened at Mananthavadi and Kalpetta for providing better services to consumers. A new section office was also started at Ambalavayal.

To solve voltage-related issues in the district, voltage improvement and system improvement projects had been set up at a cost of Rs.8 crore.
