The Kerala Madya Nirodhana Samiti, while hailing the recommendations of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) subcommittee on liquor policy, has urged the government to put these measures into practice soon.

The samiti, which met in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday against the backdrop of the subcommittee report which called for more curbs on liquor consumption, said the recommendations inspired hope in the hearts of anti-liquor activists.

“We ask the government to implement these measures by the end of next month,” Iyyacheri Kunhikrishnan, general secretary of the samiti, said.

“If anyone tries to subvert these recommendations, the samiti will go on an indefinite hunger strike in January,” he added.
