Letter to Chandy
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Chennithala also sought urgent financial assistance to the destitute families, including aid for their children to pursue studies.
The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president said the government should take steps to get compensation for the families from the owners of the Italian ship.
Mr. Chennithala pointed out that fishermen were afraid to set out to sea following the incident.
“It has also come to light that such incidents have taken place in the past as well. In this context, the government should also take affirmative steps to provide security to fishermen at sea,” he said in the letter.
