Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala said that the Congress would not have to stoop to the level of making an alliance with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala despite its efforts for unification of secular and democratic forces at the Centre.

He was speaking to the media during a reception to his ongoing Kerala Yatra at Manjeri, near here, on Friday.

He said the Communist Marxist Party headed by M.V. Raghavan and the Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samiti headed by K.R. Gowri were integral part of the United Democratic Front . He demanded that the Centre grant Rs.100 crore to rehabilitate the expatriates returning to Kerala in the wake of the new labour rules in Saudi Arabia.
