However, excise duty cut on vegetable oils will be harmful to coconut farmers

KOLLAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has said that the Union Budget presented on Wednesday will benefit Kerala in many ways.

Inaugurating a convention of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders from the district who left that party to return to the Congress on Wednesday here, he said the slashing of Excise duty on vegetable oils would prove to be harmful for the coconut farmers of the State.

The KPCC would bring this to the attention of the Union Government. The Budget is also development-oriented which will help bring down prices.

On poll results from the three States of Manipur, Utharkhand and Punjab, Mr. Chennithala said his party would learn lessons from the defeat, take corrective measures and go forward.
