Kottayam boy tops entrance exam

Albin Jose George has excelled in academics right from his school days. Now, he bagged the top score in the Kerala engineering entrance examination bringing cheer to his family members and teachers. Ho got a score of 574.1651 at the examination.

Speaking to The Hindu , Albin said that he aimed to pursue mechanical engineering. He had recently topped the entrance examinations of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). By scoring 335 out of 360 marks, he has also emerged as the State topper in the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main). “I look forward to appear for the JEE (Advanced) and hope to gain admission at one of the IITs,” he said.

His father, George Varghese, is a technical assistant at Kerala State Drugs and Pharmaceuticals in Alappuzha and his mother, Mary V.J., is an assistant at the Rubber Board. He has an elder sister who is pursuing the Bachelor of Arts course at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Hyderabad.

Elma Varghese of Padipurackal house in Manganam has come first in the entrance examinations in the scheduled tribe category. With a score of 369.5418, she secured the 5874th rank in the general category. Elma looks forward to pursuing MBBS at the Kottayam MCH. She did her schooling at the Lourdes Public School and Junior College here and had secured 92 per cent in her Class XII CBSE Board examinations.
