KOZHIKODE: A number of development programmes are being launched in Kozhikode to mark the birth centenary of the late P.N. Panicker, who pioneered literacy and library movements in the State.

Inauguration of 10 knowledge centres is one of the P.N. Panicker memorial projects.

A committee headed by Mayor M. Bhaskaran and having MPs and MLAs of the district as patrons has been formed to organise the celebrations. Besides 10 knowledge centres, 10 vocational training centres women would also be launched.

Awareness programmes in all panchayats, a convention of literacy workers, honouring of leaders of library movement, literacy and legal aid camps, and delivery of one lakh books in homes to popularise reading habit have also been planned.
