Government medical college teachers, while welcoming the government decision to start new medical colleges in government sector, have taken strong objection to a circular issued by the Special Officer for New Medical College Project.
This circular says anybody interested in working in the proposed Government Medical College in Manjeri should apply to him for getting the job. The first of the new government medical colleges is to be established at Manjeri. The government has already created 108 posts by an order issued on February 2.
The normal procedure of recruitment of staff is through promotion and transfer of existing faculty in different medical colleges for higher posts and direct recruitment through the Kerala Public Service Commission or employment exchange to entry cadre.
The circular issued by Special Officer P.G.R. Pllai says that anybody interested in working in the college in Manjeri should apply to him.
Condemning the circular, the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA) president K. Mohanan and secretary C.P. Vijayan said on Friday that ‘this is a highly irregular move which must be stopped by the government immediately.’
