Intervene in public issues, staff told

Kozhikode: Education and Cultural Affairs Minister M.A. Baby has deplored the tendency of a section of the media to glory individuals and groups inclined to militant ideologies.

He was inaugurating the valedictory session of the golden jubilee of ‘Kerala Service,’ an organ of the Kerala NGO Union, at the Tagore Centenary Hall here on Thursday.

Mr. Baby also accused the section of the media of protecting the forces that exploited society for business profit.

At the same time, he said, this section attempted to annihilate the progressive forces.

Mr. Baby said the State government employees needed to focus not only on their wages and service conditions but also intervene in public issues.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary T.P. Ramakrishnan, Kerala NGO Union president K.P. Mary, general secretary K. Rajendran, all-India State Government Employees Federation general secretary R. Muthusundaram and ‘Kerala Service’ manager S. Sreekantesan spoke on the occasion.
