The Kerala Agricultural University will host a workshop of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Control at the College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara, Thrissur, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to T. R. Gopalakrishnan, director of research, the meeting will review the progress achieved during the last two years in the field of weed management in various crops. Scientists from 25 AICRP centres in the country will take part in the workshop.

Shifts in weed flora, introduction and establishment of new weeds, bio-efficacy of new herbicides, environmental problems arising from the use of herbicides and the effect of climate change on weeds and their competitiveness to crops will be discussed in detail at the two-day workshop, he said.

C.T. Abraham, organising secretary of the workshop, said that the research agenda in the field of weed science would be formulated by the meeting on the basis of the assessment of research achievements during the past two years.
