The teachers of the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, and Kerala Veterinary College, Mannuthy, under the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) held a protest here on Friday against non-disbursement of salaries for October.

The teachers alleged that the authorities had not paid salaries to 30 teachers at the Veterinary College and 82 at the Agricultural College, which would amount to Rs. 51 lakh. KAU Registrar C. B. Manomohan told reporters that paucity of funds had affected timely payment of salary.

“The KAU is not getting adequate grant from the State government to pay the revised salary of teachers. We need a minimum amount of Rs. 120 crore to settle pending payments.”
