Kalpathy river clean-up begins

A two-day cleaning operation of the Kalpathy river, a tributary of Bharathapuzha, was inaugurated by M.B. Rajesh, MP, at Chathapuram here on Thursday.

Presiding over the function, District Collector P.M. Ali Asgar Pasha said that a check-dam costing Rs.30 lakh would be constructed across the river at Kalpathy. A leading company at Kanjikode would sponsor the work.

Nearly 200 volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra, OISCA International, Kerala Armed Police camp at Muttikulangara, Kalpathy Brahmin Sabha, P.M.G. Higher Secondary School and Marutharode Polytechnic are participating in the cleaning operations.
