District panchayat president T.N. Khandamuthan has said that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) will be linked to agriculture operations in the lands of marginal and small farmers to help revive agriculture in the district.

Addressing presspersons on Thursday, he said a master plan for the watershed development of the grama panchayats of Kuthanur and Vandazhi would be released by M.B. Rajesh, MP, at a seminar organised in association with the Kerala State Land Use Board on the preparations of watershed master plans for grama panchayats with people's participation.

Mr. Khandamuthan said the watershed master plans for all 91 grama panchayats of the district would be prepared in a year. He said that during the past three years, Palakkad came first in the implementation of the MGNREGS in the State. Last year, the district spent Rs.65 crore and this year, it was expected to be Rs.100 crore.
