KOTTAYAM: The Industrial Training Department and the district administration will jointly organise a job fete /skill fete, a placement festival for those who have passed out of industrial training institutes and industrial centres in the districts of Kottayam and Idukki.

“This is designed as an event to bridge the gap between the industrial training institutions and potential employers,” said P. Venugopal, District Collector. The five-day festival being organised at the campus of ITI, Ettumnur from December 15, will bring major job providers and hundreds of qualified job seekers under one roof.

Details of placement options and mode of applications in various recruiting agencies and industries will be provided to the skilled and technically-qualified candidates.

Interactions between the job seekers and potential employers will be held during the festival through placement tests, interviews and skill evaluations. Skill evaluation will be a novel and useful experience for the candidates who would be assessed by senior technologists from various sectors.

This would not only help to boost their confidence level but also improve quality even as the candidates present themselves for assessment by prospective employers, Mr. Venugopal said.

Selected candidates will be given their appointment letters at the end of the five-day festival. The festival will also act as a venue for exhibiting the strengths of the ITIs and ITCs in the two districts, which are second to none when compared with institutions outside the State, Mr. Venugopal said.

The initial response for the festival, the first of its kind in the two districts, is encouraging, he said and added that already over 600 candidates have registered.
