THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State committee of the Janakiya Neethi Vedi has expressed its support for the ongoing indefinite fast by members of the Thiruvananthapuram Bar Association in front of the Vanchiyoor Court Complex demanding the setting up of a High Court Bench in the capital city.
A release issued here by Philip Joseph Puthenchira, president of the organisation, urged the Chief Minister to take the initiative to convene an all-party meeting and make necessary arrangements to meet the President, Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Law at the earliest. The members of the organisation also held a ‘shayana pradakshinam’ in front of the Secretariat on Wednesday. Meanwhile, J.V. Vilanilam, former Vice-Chancellor, Kerala University, who addressed the protesting lawyers in front of the Vanchiyoor court complex said that the demand for a High Court Bench was in the interest of the entire State.
