KATTAPPANA: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on Saturday said that it required a great effort on the part of a grama panchayat to complete a bus stand complex with all basic facilities when the resources available to it was limited.

Instead of compromising on the work, it availed of a loan of nearly Rs.1 crore for completing the work.

The loan can be repaid in time with the income generated from the business shops in the complex.

The Minister said that the government was keen to provide funds for the completion of the two approach roads to the bus stand. The government plans to set aside Rs.1.5 crore development fund for the district.

The demand for bringing all the government offices, which are presently scattered in Kattappana, Painavu and Thodupuzha and function from rented offices, under a single umbrella will be given due consideration, he said.
