The inter-city low-floor bus service between here and Kochi of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation started on Monday. The first bus was flagged off from the mofussil bus station at 5.30 a.m.

The air-conditioned buses conduct three services daily in each direction, leaving here and the Vytilla mobility hub in Kochi at 5.30 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 5.15 p.m. The fare for the full trip is Rs. 315.

Officials said the new services would be useful to passengers in Kozhikode, Thrissur and Malappuram districts. The low-floor buses were introduced in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The inter-city services using them is being started for the first time.
