The annual Brahmasthana Mahotsavam at the Amritagiri Math at Mananthavady in the district concluded on Tuesday.
Delivering the benedictory address at a Satsangh in the morning, Mata Amritanandamayi said that the degradation of moral values in the modern Indian society was the major reason for the increasing atrocities against women and children.
‘Laws not enough’
The recent incident in New Delhi was an example for it, the Mata said, adding that such issues could not be tackled by enacting laws alone.
The parents should instil moral values in children from a very young age to solve such issues, the Mata said.
Our culture had taught us to find the presence of God in all the objects of nature, the Mata said, adding that parents should teach their children to conserve nature for the future generations. Love was the foundation stone of happiness and real happiness was the base of spirituality, the Mata reminded.
Around 10,000 devotees participated in the puja ceremonies. The Mata will leave to Kannur on Wednesday morning, according to the math authorities.
