Insensitive act

print   ·   T  T

Throwing garbage on the roadside is a way of life here. This insensitive act makes waste disposal a problem for the authorities. Kudumbasree units are functioning effectively in all Corporation wards.

They have been collecting wastes from households. Heavy fines should be imposed on those throwing garbage in public places. Such actions would deter people from polluting the State. Also, it is necessary that scientifically designed waste bins are in place at all locations. I request the civic authorities to take action.

Postal delay

I want to bring to the attention of the Postal Department that I have not received the acknowledgement of a letter sent by registered post on October 5, 2010. A complaint has been lodged with the Department of Posts in this regard. The Department should ensure prompt delivery of such letters in view of the fact that it collects a fee for this ‘so-called' value-added service.

Allot stop for trains

Train no.6605 Mangalore-Nagercoil Eranad Express has no stop at Aluva or Angamaly. As many students from the Malabar region study in various professional colleges in and around Aluva, Kalady, Angamaly, Kothamangalam, Perumbavoor, Karukutty and Muvattupuzha, a stop should be allotted at either of these stations. Since students, especially women, should reach their hostels before 6 p.m., they will find the stop convenient, especially on Sundays when returning after the weekend.
