Thiruvananthapuram: Sugheesh was on cloud nine. The 21-year-old B.Com graduate from Kollam could not hide his joy at having cleared the examination for recruitment to the Indian Army in his second attempt. “It is a dream come true for me,” he said, after completing the documentation formalities at the Army Recruiting Office at Pangode on Wednesday.

Sugheesh will join as Nursing Assistant trainee at the Army Hospital, Lucknow.

As many as 469 young men who cleared the examination are being sent in batches to their respective training centres across the country. At a function held at the recruiting office, Col. P.K. Rawat, Director Recruiting, addressed the successful candidates.

Sugheesh will have company in Vishnu, another fresh recruit from Kollam who will also join as Nursing Assistant trainee at Lucknow. Col. Rawat said the Army would conduct another recruitment rally at Ernakulam from October 20 to 25 for youth from the districts of Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Idukki. Candidates will be appointed as Soldier General Duty, Soldier General Duty (10th Pass), Soldier Technical, Soldier Nursing Assistant, Soldier Clerk/Store Keeper Technical and Soldier Tradesman categories.
