The Pune native who tried to gain access to the residence of cricketer S. Sreesanth was produced before the court and remanded on Friday.

Nilesh Ramachandra Jagthap, 32, also known as Sachin, told the police that he was travelling from Mumbai to Kanyakumari and heard the news about Sreesanth’s arrest in connection with the spot-fixing scam. So he got down from the train at Ernakulam and went to the cricketers’ house at Edappally.

He told the security guard that he was from the Mumbai police but on a complaint lodged by the security guard, he was arrested by the Thrikkakara police. Even though the police in his home town was contacted, the City Police did not get any response.
