Acting on the instructions of DGP (Intelligence) Siby Mathew, a senior police official on Saturday visited the Cochin international airport here to investigate the incident wherein the immigration personnel here had resorted to an unofficial go-slow strike.

Airport sources said Inspector General of Police (Security) Anil Kant reached the airport by 11.30 a.m. and interacted with the immigration personnel in separate sessions.

During the discussions, he reportedly ensured the officials that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the authorities on Saturday served memos to a couple of officials seeking explanation for the supervisory lapse. It was earlier reported that the officials had allegedly staged the protest to vent their anger over the work arrangements implemented recently and the lack of basic amenities.

As part of the protest, the officials at the immigration check-points took extra time to clear every passenger, which caused a delay of about 25-60 minutes for each of the flights.

In addition, a section of officials had gone on a mass leave on medical grounds as a part of the protest which, in turn, led to a staff shortage.
