The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has come to the defence of doctors at the Cherthala taluk hospital where a large number of Caesarean sections are believed to have been performed without sufficient medical indications for the same. The IMA leaders, at a press conference here on Tuesday, said a task force constituted by the IMA, which had visited the hospital for a detailed investigation, could not find fault with the doctors deciding to perform Caesarean sections early. This was done to ensure that patients were not put to difficulty during the holiday season when most of the hospital staff would not be available. — Staff Reporter
