Kozhikode: Even as the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad ruled out rollback of fee hike, the IIM-Kozhikode has put on hold the same following a directive from the Union Human Resource Ministry.
“In view of the directions from the Central government-appointed review committee, we have put the decision on hold,” IIM-K Director Krishna Kumar said here on Monday.
The institution had put on hold its earlier decision to increase the fee for the postgraduate programme from Rs.1.5 lakh and Rs.1.9 lakh for the first and second year, respectively, to a uniform Rs.3 lakh for both the years from the academic year.
Mr. Krishna Kumar said the Board of Governors of IIM-K would decide in a week on implementing reservation for Other Backward Classes from June 2008 academic year.
“We are discussing the issue and a decision will be taken soon. May be, in a week or so.”
Lamenting the poor infrastructure facilities on the institution premises, Mr. Krishna Kumar said he had urged the Human Resource Development Ministry to allot more land to the institute to offer better amenities to the students. — PTI
